Fontaines D.C. have recorded a session for an upcoming special episode of Later… With Jools Holland. Find all the details below.

The Dublin band took to the stage at Alexandra Palace Theatre in north London earlier this week for the intimate performance. They showcased material from their fifth studio album ‘Dopamine Chamber’, out tomorrow (Friday October 16).

Grian Chatten and co’s live set was filmed for a one-off edition of the long-running music show Later…, which airs on BBC Two on Sunday November 15. Alternatively, fans can watch the special in full via BBC iPlayer on the afternoon of Wednesday October 21.

Songs from the session will be available globally on the BBC’s official YouTube channel from October 21, too.

Audiences will also be treated to tracks and new interviews with Fontaines D.C. across that week on Steve Lamacq’s BBC Radio 6 Music show, Jo Whiley’s BBC Radio 2 show, and Radio 1’s New Music Show With Jack Saunders.

Fontaines D.C. last played on Later… in 2024, having made their debut on the series in 2020. Chatten delivered a solo performance on the show in 2023.

Later… With Jools Holland returned last Sunday (October 11) for its 69th series, boasting appearances from Johnny Marr, Skye Newman, Mary In The Junkyard and more. Guests on forthcoming episodes include the likes of Royal Blood, Jamie T, Violet Grohl and Bloc Party.

Fontaines D.C. will launch ‘Dopamine Chamber’ with a small gig at London’s Roundhouse tonight (Thursday October 15), raising funds for mental health charity CALM.

The band have shared three singles from the follow-up to 2024’s acclaimed ‘Romance’ in the form of ‘Marianne’, ‘Tongue’ and ‘Where Is Gone?’ (featuring Rosalía). Chatten recently said working with the Spanish star had been a “career high”, hailing her “terrifying level of talent”.

Fontaines D.C. have also been playing the as-yet-unreleased songs ‘Six Shot Morning’ and ‘Happy For You’ at recent gigs, having premiered the latter at Leeds Festival in August.

In a glowing five-star review of the full album, NME wrote: “The biggest Irish band since U2 have now also secured themselves as the definitive band of this decade on ‘Dopamine Chamber’ – an extraordinary record for extraordinary times. Amidst all the hiss and the decay, Fontaines have made something pure, honest and feeling while in exhilarating motion. Now you see who they are.”

Next summer will see Fontaines D.C. play some huge concerts in the UK and Ireland, including two nights at Slane Castle and a double-header at Manchester’s Heaton Park. Support on the UK stops comes from Little Simz and Viagra Boys, with Hayley Williams opening in Ireland.

The outdoor run is set to follow their 2026 UK and European arena tour this autumn, off the back of headline slots at Reading & Leeds over the summer. Find any remaining tickets here (UK/Europe).

They recently announced new concerts in Italy and Germany as part of their 2027 trek, as well as dates in Japan, Australia and New Zealand. Last week, it was confirmed that Fontaines D.C. will headline Primavera Sound in Barcelona next June.

‘Dopamine Chamber’ comes after Fontaines’ recent contributions to the soundtrack to Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man and the War Child ‘Help(2)’ album. In a new interview, Chatten has revealed that he is planning another solo record, and wants to make it “a lot more lively” and “festival-ready”.
