After many long months of trying to find her mom, Savannah Guthrie made an appearance on Password. When was the episode filmed?
Savannah Guthrie and Jimmy Fallon helped two contestants figure out passwords in order to win $25,000. They played two games on September 1, where they led Justin and Kia. The season began filming in August 2025, according to People.
During the first round, both Guthrie and Fallon guessed the password with only one clue. Guthrie got another clue right away, but when it came to the third clue, she couldn’t figure out “Elegant.”
“Cliffhanger” was also hard for the contestants, and they solved it when only three points were available. Justin kept passing, so Kia wound up winning the round, solving the last clue within one word.
When she switched to Justin for the next round, they got the clue “Spoiler” with only two clues. Fallon passed on “Styrofoam” to Guthrie. Guthrie and Justin only got two points from the round.
Kia won the game, with Fallon this time, moving on to the Bonus Round. She chose Guthrie to go first because she was her “first love.” Guthrie got six out of 10 to help Kia win. Fallon got three correct, giving her nine.
So, they moved to the bonus clue, in which Kia said “Guacamole.” Guthrie and Fallon deliberated and came to “Avocado.” They were right, so she won $18,000.

The second episode had Guthrie and Fallon playing with Chantae and Michael. Fallon passed on the clue “Labubu.” However, Fallon and Chantae wound up solving it for three points.
The Today Show correspondent finally got Michael to say “Reporter,” only earning three points. Guthrie and Michael solved “Hawk” for three points. When they solved “Original” with only two words, Michael won the first round with 16 points.
When they switched partners, Guthrie messed up with “Earthquake,” saying “tremors” and moving her hands too much. However, they took the lead on the second clue, “Crocodile,” when Chantae said “Alligator.”
Fallon passed on “Stonehenge,” but Guthrie and Chantae couldn’t figure it out. Michael wound up solving it for five points, giving him 10. He won the game when they solved “McCartney” for five points.
Michael started with Guthrie again in the Bonus Round. This time she only got four correct. Fallon also only got four, giving Michael eight.
For the Bonus, Michael said, “Sweep.” The celebrities guessed “Chimney.” They were correct, so he won $16,000.
Aside from Today, Guthrie hasn’t made many appearances on TV. However, she is set to host the upcoming game show, Wordle.
Guthrie’s mom went missing on February 1, 2026. As of September 1, she has not yet been found, but the investigation is ongoing.
