Your Hotel Is Hot on TikTok Go. But AI Got All The Facts Wrong.

Travel

TikTok videos of the Ambiente Sedona resort are a little too picture perfect.

One video with over 315,000 views shows off the resort’s atrium suites at sunset, the surrounding red rock landscape glowing. In another, a creator gushes over the view of a “peaceful pond” from her room’s floor-to-ceiling windows, then urges viewers to book a stay themselves through a link near the bottom of the video.

The only problem? The suite doesn’t exist. Neither does the pond, according to property owner Jennifer May. Even the creator may be fake — AI detection system Resemble.AI flagged her as AI-generated.

Scroll through TikTok, and it’s easy to find AI-generated videos and influencers pushing hotel sales through a new TikTok Go feature. For each successful booking, the accounts can earn a percentage-based commission.
