Riyadh Air Opens Bookings for Formal London Launch

Saudi startup carrier Riyadh Air has formally opened ticket sales for flights operated by its first fully equipped aircraft. From July 1, journeys between Riyadh and London Heathrow will be flown by its flagship Boeing 787-9 jets.

The service marks a more substantive commercial launch after months of limited readiness flying. Riyadh Air has been using a leased aircraft known internally as “Jamila” as part of its Pathway to Perfect operational readiness program.

In Tuesday’s announcement, Riyadh Air said its Heathrow route will continue to be operated by Jamila until June 30. The carrier soft-launched the service in October last year.

However, from July 1 onward, the London link will transition exclusively to the airline’s new 787-9 Dream
