The one and only, Dici, is at it again. This time, he’s picking up the pace, with the runaway romantic freight, known as “u n i.” If you aren’t already familiar with Dici, he’s kind of one of those types, you have to see to believe. To be perfectly honest, my first impression of him, was met with a head scratching, “you can’t be serious.” But the more you learn about the iconoclastic young Rapper/Composer/Producer, you realize there’s more beneath the surface.
A native Italian, you wouldn’t doubt it if someone told you, he is Fabio’s illegitimate love child. With long flowing hair that is so picturesque, it’s ridiculous, he of course, once dabbled in modeling. Everything about Dici, feels like one massive troll, and it’s hard to gauge, just how self aware he is. But again, he’s not one to be entirely underestimated. Although, he is barely out of high school, Dici has already amassed an impressive catalog of music.
Dici’s newest single is something of a hybrid piece, with a few contrasting elements. It’s relatively straightforward, compositionally, but quite unorthodox, as well. Dici delivers the verses at breakneck speed, yet still manages to clearly enunciate. Having an inimitable and at times , ephemeral style, is something that Dici doesn’t get full credit for. His sound grows to be more and more signature, with each successive release.
Swerving and turning I barely can see/I push on the pedal/ I lower the knee. This would seem to infer that Dici feels a sense of chaos in life, or that things are spinning out of control. He’s frantically trying to maintain, but there’s only one person on his mind, and for once, it’s not Dici. This track is bound to be somewhat polarizing, due to its unusual arrangement. As always, Dici goes all the way with it, not holding back in the least.
This was an ambitious production, and all things, considered, it comes off quite well. With string instruments, percussion, and a vocal track, there’s actually much more going on, musically, than most standard Hip Hop efforts. This one was quite possibly a difficult one to record, and Dici is known to work, alone, making the finished product all the more savory. It does have that, “what did I just listen to,” aftermath, but I found myself immediately wanting to hear it, again. There’s something really fun about “u n i,” and edgy as well.
It’s hard to fault Dici, with his latest single, and that’s kind of saying something. You can see him graduating from self-absorbed, aloof millennial, to an introspective artist who actually possesses a certain level of depth. His music is becoming the focal point, and he’s showing what he can do, when he rolls up his sleeves, and really digs in. The title is sure to cause a double take, and very likely stir up some intrigue. Dici got his start as something of a salesmen/entrepreneur, and it’s now safe to say that the product he’s pushing, justifies the hype.
