Taylor Frankie Paul’s season of The Bachelorette was canceled just days before it was set to air in March, but fans will finally be getting some insight into her romantic journey on the show when The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives returns on September 10.
A clip from the upcoming season aired on the September 2 episode of the Get Real podcast, and features Paul talking to Jessi Draper, Mikayla Matthews, and Mayci Neeley about her time on The Bachelorette. It begins with Draper asking her if she had sex in the fantasy suites, and Paul replying, “No.”
While discussing Paul’s final pick on the show (rumored to be Doug Mason), Draper wondered, “Was there a part of you that was like, ‘He looks like Dakota [Mortensen]?’” But Paul insisted, “I didn’t start thinking that until people said it around me. I actually did not see it the night I met him.”
Draper pointed out that Mortensen and Mason have the same initials and are both from Idaho, but Paul explained, “I didn’t learn all of that until later.”
Perhaps the juiciest bit of information, though, was when Paul confirmed that her suitor “did get down on one knee” to propose to her. Everyone was shocked by this tidbit, as Draper pointed out, “He told us he wasn’t going to!” Paul felt the same. “He told me [that], too,” she admitted.
Still, she said yes to the proposal, but things quickly unraveled when she got home and started getting texts from Mortensen, whom she shares a child with. “I don’t know how it led to it, but he came over,” Paul continued. This, of course, eventually led to the “domestic assault investigation” into Paul and Mortensen in February, followed by the cancellation of The Bachelorette Season 22.
The Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office ultimately did not press any criminal charges in the matter. Paul and Mortensen are ordered to stay 100 feet away from each other for three years.
