The Pant Trend That Makes Flip-Flops Look Elegant

Flip-flops are currently dominating the fashion scene from the streets of New York City to the coast of the Hamptons and the hills of Los Angeles. However, I say this in the nicest way, but not everyone wearing them knows how to style them in the most elevated way possible. One option, though, is to follow Sofia Richie Grainge‘s lead. Instead of defaulting to classic linen trousers, swap them for a more forward option like jacquard pants.

This week, Grainge posted a carousel of photos on Instagram captioned “SRG Summer.” In the pictures, she wore a chic warm-weather ensemble that included a strapless scarf-style top paired with matching jacquard drawstring pants. She added a blue-and-brown striped sweater, which she casually draped over her shoulders, and completed the look with brown flip-flops and a raffia shoulder bag. But just because her outfit was simple and understated doesn’t mean it wasn’t polished.

Jacquard pants add richness to the thong sandals, while the flats ground them, creating a balanced look. It’s a win-win situation. On top of that, the pant trend feels more relevant than ever right now because jacquard is having a moment. Aside from pants, the intricate pattern is adorning coveted shoes such as The Row’s Frances Slippers, which have been spotted on the likes of Kendall Jenner and Elsa Hosk in recent months.
