While he’ll be spending most of this year’s Cannes Film Festival heading up its jury, ‘No Other Choice’ director Park Chan-Wook also has a movie package available that is sure to generate interest.
Per Deadline, the filmmaker has gathered Matthew McConaughey (‘Interstellar’), Austin Butler (‘Dune: Part Two’), Pedro Pascal (‘The Mandalorian’) and Chinese star Tang Wei (‘Decision to Leave’) to lead the cast of ‘The Brigands of Rattlecreek’, a Western he’s been aiming to make for more than decade.
Based on a buzzy script by ‘Bone Tomahawk’s S. Craig Zahler (which Park has also revised), it’ll realize the director’s long-held desire to saddle up for the Western genre.

While there isn’t an official plotline online, Deadline has heard that it’ll follow a sheriff and a doctor who seek revenge against a group of bandits who use the cover of a torrential thunderstorm to rob and terrorize the occupants of a small town.
The story will alight on themes central to Park’s oeuvre of vengeance, retribution, the consequences of violence and the power of memory and family, but this time in the American West.

The actor, most recently seen in ‘The ‘Lost Bus’ has a few projects in the works. There’s Apple TV series ‘Brother from Another Mother’ which co-stars Woody Harrelson and has needed to be re-worked during production. He’s reunited with ‘True Detective’ creator Nic Pizzolatto for a new crime series based at Netflix and he’s attached to Daniel Roher’s romantic drama ‘Positano’.
