Exclusive Interview with Water Tower

Exclusive Interview with Water Tower
Culture, Music

What was it like the first time you realized music is what you wanted to do as your life’s work?

It was trippy. I was hallucinating while a friend played blues guitar in the early morning after a party in suburbia. The guitar filled up with golden rays and shone out into the room. I realized right away that I was to follow this path forever.

Who was the most encouraging with your talent?

My parents. I am so lucky to have parents who encouraged me to pursue what I wanted to.

Was there anyone that was the least?

No one in particular.  There were times when people in my life questioned the practicality of being able to fit into society on an easier basis, but that didn’t matter to me apparently. This is how I fit into society.

You make performing seem seamless. How much practice goes into what you do?

Thank you!  I spend a lot of time just doing what I do, and that is the practice because I believe it is imperative to practice as we perform.  So whenever I am practicing, I am also performing.  Even when I work out very slow passages of music, I still perform for myself and enjoy the spirit of the music.  That has been the key to my enjoying time on earth.

With all the successes you’ve experienced in your career, can you recall a time where you were tested in it?

Many times. Lots of tests hehe… I continued down a dangerous and difficult path for some time, and ultimately that is what led me to success. My setback ended up being my setUP. I don’t look at my past as failures, but rather as feedback. Feedback that I use to pivot the way I live, and ultimately to align myself directly with nature, and it’s desires. Fail faster, fall harder, that way we can get to the right place as soon as possible.

How did you make the decision to keep on going for your goals?

I trusted my instinct. Deep inside I knew I was doing what I was supposed to be doing.

Who or what did you turn to when you needed a refocus?

I always turn to deep breathing when I need to refocus now. Through the awareness of my breath, I have been able to help achieve my desires.

Tell our audience about your latest passion project!

Right now I am passionately working on “ultra-learning.” It is what you might expect; learning a lot. I have been spending most of my time reading self-help, philosophy, and spiritual books right now so that I can see the world a bit better.

How did you come up with what you wanted to do next?

I just keep following the rabbit hole inside of my head, and trusting that the compass is pointing to my own true north. Now that I have it all calibrated properly that is…Basically I just keep reading and learning, and stumbling my way down the path that is inside and outside of me.

How are you making time for everything you do!

I stopped drinking and doing drugs some years ago, so that gave me a LOT more time. Even people who are not problem drinkers could benefit from the added time and energy that abstaining (just for today) can provide.

What are you focusing on right now going forward with your music?

I am focused entirely on learning how to focus most efficiently.

How did that come about?

I have been on a quest for how to better focus ever since I first meditated as a ten year old visiting Indonesia. Now that I am aware and awake to realize my own potential, I am obsessed with optimizing my experience on earth, and in turn, helping those around me, aka YOU, optimize your experience : ) If I can brighten your day for even three seconds, my job is complete.

In a world that scrolls and scrolls, I would like to be that little smile in between.

Give us where and how to find your music!
