Lily Allen has said that she is “not in a good place mentally” and “stopped eating” at the moment.

The singer and actor opened up about her current battles during a new episode of her Miss Me? podcast, which she hosts alongside close friend Miquita Oliver. During the episode, Allen got candid about her wellbeing, and revealed she has been going through a hard time.

“I’ve been going through a tough time over the last few months and my eating has become an issue,” she began.

“My therapist and I talk about it and she says, ‘How long has this been going on?’ And I said, ‘Well, about three years really.’ And she’s like, ‘OK, why haven’t you mentioned it before?’ It’s not because I’m lying about it. It’s just because it [didn’t] seem at the top of the list of important things that I need to talk about, but obviously it is.”

The ‘Smile’ singer continued, debating whether her ADHD diagnosis could be playing a role, as it means her body and mind don’t link together properly at times. “My body and my brain are two very separate things to me. I know a lot of people feel those two things are very connected to each other, but for me, it’s very different. I spend a lot of time in my head, and not a lot of time thinking about my body,” she explained.

“I’m really not in a great place mentally at the moment, and I’m not eating. I’m not hungry. I obviously am hungry, but my body and brain are so disconnected from each other that my body… the messages of hunger are not going through my body to my brain,” she added.

“I’m not avoiding food, I’m just not thinking about it because I’m so in my head. My body’s, like, a few steps behind me.”

This isn’t the first time that Allen has opened up about her mental health while on the podcast. Recently, she also brought up the topic of education and admitted that she could go into a “self-hared spiral” over her lack of qualifications. Before then, she recalled her years of sobriety, saying that she “stands to lose everything” if she were to start drinking again.

In other news, both Allen and Oliver recently confirmed that they will be bringing their Miss Me? podcast to a live audience for the first time in London next year. The podcast – a Persephonica production for BBC Sounds – launched in March this year and its first live edition will be recorded with an audience at the Hackney Empire on March 6, 2025.
