Ryan Reynolds has responded to rumours about whether Taylor Swift is set to appear in the Deadpool series.

The singer has been at the centre of speculation for some time over a potential surprise appearance as superhero Dazzler in the upcoming Marvel film.

Deadpool & Wolverine is due to hit cinemas this summer, and in anticipation of the movie’s release, Reynolds took part in a new interview with Fandango.

Responding to the rumours of Swift entering the Deadpool universe, he said: “You know, movies like this… there’s so much speculation about so many people that might end up in the film.

“I saw one that was convinced that Elvis is in the movie. Anything can happen and that’s sort of what I love about this universe. Surprises are the essence of Deadpool.” Watch the video below.

The director of the forthcoming movie, Shawn Levy, previously dampened the rumours when speaking to Entertainment Tonight: “That is hardly confirmed nor denied in this interview. I’m going to literally walk out of the frame and save myself, otherwise Ryan [Reynolds]’s taking a hit [out] on me.”

Speaking about his attendance at a game to support Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce last year, which helped fuel speculation, the director said: “All that’s known is that I went to a football game, and those hours were well-documented and that’s all I’m gonna say. What can I say? I think intrigue is fun.”

This isn’t the first time Levy has spoken about the rumours, with the director asked about his attendance at the game last October by TheWrap.

“They sure are loud,” he said at the time. “I’m going across the board. ‘No comment’ because that’s a double whammy. That’s Taylor-related. And it’s MCU-related. I’m no dummy. You’re going to have to wait and see.”

Deadpool & Wolverine will be the third film in the Deadpool franchise, and will see Hugh Jackman reprise his role as Wolverine.
