Yorgos Lanthimos’s Poor Things, starring Emma Stone, written by Tony McNamara, and based on the 1992 novel Poor Things: Episodes from the Early Life of Archibald McCandless M.D., Scottish Public Health Officer by the postmodern writer Alasdair Gray, was one of Literary Hub’s very favorite film adaptations (and films, in general) of 2023. (Read our critic’s full review here.) Hopefully the film will spur full-on Gray resurgence—after all, he is a writer with a seriously prodigious backlist.
In the meantime, Poor Things will be available for streaming tomorrow, February 27, and on March 12 will be released on Blu-ray and DVD, complete with bonus content.
