Aloy isn’t trekking through the Burning Shores alone in Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores. As briefly explained elsewhere, she’ll be joined by Seyka, a member of the Quen tribe who is meant to match Aloy’s energy. Guerrilla Games released a behind-the-scenes Burning Shores video all about this new partner and how her actor, Kylie Liya Page, adapted to the motion capture process.
Page was recently in Hulu’s The Girl From Plainsville, and this is her first video game role. She called the first day “very humbling,” but then said it was fun by the end. She noted that she had to use her imagination to play in such a new space and that it was “awesome” once she realized the freedom the game gave her as an actor.

As for Seyka, Ashly Burch, who plays Aloy, said that there is an odd power dynamic between the two characters since Seyka is also a warrior like Aloy. She explained that Aloy “may have met her match a little bit.” However, Seyka has more of a community within the Quen tribe, which is not something Aloy is entirely used to growing up with a father figure who was an outcast. Her love for her family and her tribe is, according to Page, her biggest motivator and will show players “what it means to love.”
Seyka was first shown as concept art in a PlayStation Blog post before showing up in the DLC’s second lengthy trailer. And while Guerilla has now painted a somewhat defined outline of this character, players will have to wait until April 19 to see how much more Seyka plays into Burning Shores‘ new story.
