MultiVersus Gets Stripe DLC, Halloween Event, and Black Lantern Skins

MultiVersus is welcoming in the spooky season with a new and evil gremlin as well as a Halloween event. Player First Games not only finally released Stripe into the game, but also kicked off a festive event that brings in a whole set of Halloween cosmetics.

The team dropped a new Stripe gameplay trailer that shows the character in action. However, its character breakdown is much more specific. Generally, he’s not as durable as other heroes, but is more offensive to make up for it. His saw blade attack is a normal projectile that can be charged and, once charged, can roll around surfaces. He can even hit the saw blade as it flies back to him to launch it in another direction. If he hits it to an ally, it will orbit around them and damage those who touch it. Skillfully juggling these saw blades seems key to his kit.

Stripe’s gun has an incredibly short range, but he can extend its range through marking a target with a melee attack, which causes the gun to hit them from any distance. The saw blade can also be marked, meaning he can shoot the blade to keep it out in the play field even longer. He can even leap off projectiles, which includes his buzz saw, and this gives him extra mobility. Enemy projectiles will be destroyed if he leaps off them, too.

Stripe can also use dynamite in an unorthodox way. Whipping out the dynamite starts a timer. It will explode when it runs out, hurting Stripe and any nearby opponents. However, he can also bite it to have it blow up prematurely and turn his whole body into an aimable projectile. This still damages Stripe, but doing this marks the damaged foes, as well.

While Stripe will be in the game permanently, the Halloween event will run until November 15. During this time, players can earn Candy, a new time-limited currency. Using Gizmo or Stripe’s combat outfit or another character’s Halloween skin will earn players even more Candy. This Candy can be used on festive cosmetics like a Jack-O-Lantern sticker, Reindog’s mummy skin, or a Calico version of Jake’s Cake variant. Candy can also be traded for Gold (500 Candy equals 10 Gold).

There are also Halloween skins in the shop that can only be purchased with Gleamium. These include:

  • Vampire Tom & Jerry (800 Gleamium)
  • Frankenstein Iron Giant (1,500 Gleamium)
  • Witch Velma (1,500 Gleamium)
  • Black Lantern Superman (Unlockable with 2000 Gleamium)
  • Black Lantern Wonder Woman (2,000 Gleamium)

The patch notes also come with some character changes, including a whole bunch of nerfs, buffs, and changes for a good portion of the cast. Dodges also generally take more time to recharge in order to “promote more deliberate action and management of the dodge meter.” The anti-infinite system now kicks in after three of the same attacks instead of four in order to have players come up with more creative combos.
