In a recent interview with EW, showrunner Greg Walker has confirmed that Bosch star Titus Welliver has signed on to join the upcoming fourth season of HBO Max’s DC series Titans, which will debut this November. Welliver, who has been revealed to be a massive DC comics fan, will be portraying the newest live-action version of iconic villain Lex Luthor.

“You usually have to do this whole dog-and-pony show to get an actor to do the show,” Walker said on casting Welliver. “But when I called to kind of lure him in, I could barely get a word in. We were talking on the phone and he was just walking through his library, telling me about all his Wolfman/Perez Titans editions. He’s a giant, giant fan. He’d watched every episode of the show and could tell me about certain stories, certain shots. It was the most unexpected call I’ve ever had.”

During the same interview, Walker also revealed some interesting detail about Lex Luthor’s arc in Titans season four, revealing that the character’s arrival will particularly affect Superboy.
“What shakes Conner up is an identity story,” Walker teased. “He’s explored his Superman self, but he has not really explored his Lex self.”
Titans follows young heroes from across the DC Universe as they come of age and find where they belong. Last season, circumstances drew our heroes to Gotham City, where they reunited with old friends and fought new threats.
Season four will feature the introduction of new villains in the form of Joseph Morgan (The Originals) as Sebastian Blood/Brother Blood, Franka Potente (Taboo) as May Bennett/Mother Mayhem, and Lisa Ambalavanar (Doctors) as Jinx.
The series currently stars Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson/Nightwing, Anna Diop as Kory Anders/Starfire, Teagan Croft as Rachel Roth/Raven, Ryan Potter as Gar Logan/Beast Boy, Conor Leslie as Donna Troy/Wonder Girl, Curran Walters as Red Hood, Joshua Orpin as Conner Kent/Superboy, Minka Kelly as Dawn Granger/Dove, Damaris Lewis as Blackfire, Savannah Welch as Barbara Gordon, and Jay Lycurgo as Tim Drake.
