Asakura shows the screenshots on a monitor during a video in which he gave a tour of the RGG Studio office. The images in the video show the main protagonist, Ichiban Kasuga, with a new hairstyle. Also seen in the pictures are party members Nanba and Adachi, who previously fought alongside Ichiban in Yakuza: Like a Dragon.

It was revealed that Mikuru Asakura himself would be appearing in Yakuza 8 as a character, though little detail was given about the role he might play. Yakuza 8 is said to be set in a new city, so Asakura will likely be a resident of or visitor to Ichiban’s new haunt.

“Ichiban Kasuga, a low-ranking grunt of a low-ranking yakuza family in Tokyo, faces an 18-year prison sentence after taking the fall for a crime he didn’t commit,” reads Like a Dragon‘s synopsis. “Never losing faith, he loyally serves his time and returns to society to discover that no one was waiting for him on the outside, and his clan has been destroyed by the man he respected most. Confused and alone, he embarks on a mission to discover the truth behind his family’s betrayal and take his life back, becoming an unlikely hero for the city’s outcasts on his journey.”
