According to Deadline, Oscar nominee Sophie Okonedo (Hotel Rwanda) and Army of Thieves star Matthias Schweighöfer have signed on to join Gal Gadot in Netflix’s forthcoming spy thriller film Heart of Stone. This marks the reunion between Okonedo and Gadot after starring together in the recently released Death on the Nile.
In addition, Jing Lusi (Argylle) and Paul Ready (The Terror) have also joined the project, which has just started filming. They join previously announced cast members Jamie Dornan (Belfast) and Bollywood superstar Alia Bhatt in her English-language feature debut.

Heart of Stone is being directed by Tom Harper (The Aeronauts) from a screenplay co-written by Allison Schroeder and Greg Rucka, who made his screenwriting film debut with the Netflix film adaptation of his popular fantasy graphic novel series The Old Guard.
Plot details about the film are still being kept under wraps but the outlet’s sources described the project as something similar to blockbuster action franchises like James Bond and Mission: Impossible.
The film is produced by Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger with Granger and Goldberg overseeing the project on behalf of the studio. Producers are Gadot, Jaron Varsano, Bonnie Curtis, and Julie Lynn through their Pilot Wave banner, with Harper, Rucka, and Patty Whitcher serving as executive producers.

Okonedo is best known for her acclaimed performance in the 2004 drama film Hotel Rwanda, which her first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She will next be seen in Bleecker Street’s Naomi Watts-led film Infinite Storm and in Apple’s comedy-drama film Raymond and Ray starring Ewan McGregor and Ethan Hawke.
Last year, Schweighöfer gained international recognition for his breakout role in Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead. Soon after, the German star also went on lead in his solo prequel film Army of Thieves, which he also directed and was produced by Snyder.
