It’s been a hot minute since we’ve done a Crankdat premiere on Your EDM, so we’re supremely excited to get back into the game with his newest single, “Dark Room,” out today on Monstercat.
Typically known for his unabashedly heavy tunes, his last single, “Tell Me,” was a beautiful melodic bass tune. He keeps that trend alive with “Dark Room.” Whereas “Tell Me” was clearly made to be uplifting with its melody, “Dark Room” isn’t so obvious.
One could argue that the general tone of the song is a positive one, but beneath its surface, like “Semi-Charmed Life” or “Pumped Up Kicks,” the sound of the song appears to belie its true nature. There isn’t much in the way of vocals, but the ones featured in the bridge are clearly not the words of someone who is happy where they are in life.
All of this is to say, Crankdat is a brilliant artist and this song is simply incredible. Check out “Dark Room” below, out now on Monstercat!
