Matrixx mixes it up in Mexico

Tech

BSS vendor Matrixx scored a handy deal win with AT&T Mexico to bring its prepaid subscriber platform into the 21st century.

Specifically, MATRIXX Digital Commerce is replacing a bunch of legacy plumbing in AT&T Mexico’s systems, to provide all the digital billing goodness you would expect. The new platform will support both the AT&T and UNEFON brands and Matrixx was keen to stress in its press release that it beat loads of other vendors to win the deal.

“We are proud to be working with AT&T México as they continue to be an innovator in their market,” said Glo Gordon, Matrixx CEO. “The proliferation of connected devices, increasing data consumption and 5G network rollouts are driving CSPs to replace aging BSS infrastructure with modern, agile platforms like MATRIXX that provide innovation at speed for the business, and web-scale capabilities for operations.”

As much as anything, it’s good to see operators around the world continuing to invest in their networks, despite the general global craziness. The rollout of 5G doesn’t seem to have been significantly affected by the coronavirus pandemic, so operators still need to work out how they’re going to get a return on their investment. Picking the right BSS platform could be key to that.
