Elvis Presley fans are getting their first tear-jerking glimpse at CBS’ An Oprah Special: The Presleys – Elvis, Lisa Marie And Riley.

The hourlong special, which airs on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at 8 p.m. ET/PT, sees Oprah Winfrey sit down with Riley Keough, the king’s granddaughter and Lisa Marie Presley’s daughter.

The interview marks Elvis’s first-born grandchild’s first in-depth interview since her mother died unexpectedly in 2023.

Winfrey traveled to the iconic Graceland mansion in Memphis, Tennessee, for the intimate conversation, and two teaser clips have been shared on Thursday, October 3, ahead of its premiere. In the first clip, Keough revealed how she came up with the name of her memoir, From Here to the Great Unknown.

“It’s a funny thing because this is a song that she duetted with her father,” Keough explained to Oprah. “And she didn’t want to at first. And she was convinced to sing the song and for one I think it’s a beautiful duet between the two of them. And secondly when I was trying to figure out what the book was about for me.”

“I think having two family members who have passed away, a lot of that time and grief has been spent wondering about where they are,” she continued.

“And I think that the perspective I choose to have is that they are onto a sort of new adventure: The Great Unknown.”

Lisa Marie, who was married to Michael Jackson for two years in the mid-1990s, recorded hours of stories from her astounding life for a memoir, but never got to finish it. Keough finished co-writing the memoir and it goes on sale the day the special airs.

In addition to airing on CBS, the special will stream live and on-demand to Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers, or on-demand the next day for Paramount+ Essential subscribers.

In the second clip, Winfrey and Keough went through some of Elvis’ most iconic keepsakes, including his bible from 1957 which the TV megastar called “precious.”

Keough also pulled out her late mom’s golf cart key from growing up at the mansion, humorously sharing she “crashed a few of them.”

She also presented Elvis’ “Black Box,” a large lock box with which he’d travel everywhere and contains his “most personal things” adding, “Nothing has been touched.” The pair opened up the box and Oprah was stunned by the belongings, which included Elvis’ American Express card.

“Oh my gosh!” Oprah explained holding up the Amex card, which expired in May 1972. The box also contained a comb with Elvis’ famous dyed-black locks still on it. Keough joked the follicles could be sold for “a lot.”

The special will feature more never-published family photos and home videos as well as selections of Lisa Marie’s audio recordings. Elvis died in 1977 at 42.

The special is produced by Harpo Productions, with Oprah and Tara Montgomery executive producing the TV event with co-producer Brian Piotrowicz. Don’t miss it, catch An Oprah Special: The Presleys – Elvis, Lisa Marie and Riley when it airs this October.
