Despite ‘The Death Of Slim Shady’, Eminem and his alter ego are still at loggerheads.

For a new Complex video titled Slim Shady vs Marshall Mathers: The Face-Off, Eminem sits down with an AI-generated version of Slim Shady for a heated argument that spans their entire career.

In the video, Mathers sports a black hoodie and a beard, while the AI Slim Shady sports his iconic bleached blonde hair, a white tee and sweatpants. Over the course of the video, Slim Shady slams Marshall Mathers for trying to kill off the character on his latest album ‘The Death Of Slim Shady’.

Slim says to Mathers: “You’re not fucking Taylor Swift, you’ve had one era that mattered: mine! Everything that people think of when they think of Eminem is fucking yours truly. From the blonde hair to the middle finger to the fucking jokes — all of it, me. And if we’re being honest, the music that you’ve been dropping since I bounced ain’t it.”

Mathers goes on the defensive, asking why Slim Shady’s so obssessed with offending people: “When’s the last time you took a shot at someone who wasn’t a pop star, a non-rapping celebrity, [or] fucking marginalised communities? It’s fucking 2024, man. Let people live their lives.”

“This shit ain’t got nothing to do with you. It’s not that fucking hard. Just respect whatever people want to be called and keep it moving.”

‘The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)’ sees Eminem kill off his alter ego Slim Shady and was described as a “conceptual album” by the rapper, who told fans that the LP should be listened to in order.

In a three-star review of ‘The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce)’, Jordan Bassett wrote for NME: “So, who killed Slim Shady? In bringing him back to the light and showing him up as irrelevant, perhaps Eminem’s done his old pal in for good. OK, we get it – Shady was a shocking character. Now that he’s dead, how about getting some new material?”

Elsewhere, 50 Cent praised Eminem‘s newest album, sharing “Yo [Eminem], shit is crazy. It takes me a while to understand the details of this one,” in an Instagram post.

Jelly Roll recently revealed Eminem as one of his “childhood heroes” following their collaboration which is featured on the latter’s 12th LP. The Tennessee rapper’s 2020 song ‘Save Me’ was sampled on the closing track of ‘The Death Of Slim Shady’, titled ‘Somebody Save Me’.

“I always say my childhood hero’s lived somewhere between Willie Nelson and Eminem. As a teenager (and still today) I could recite every song on the ‘Slim Shady’ album, the ‘Marshall Mathers’ album and ‘The Eminem Show’,” he wrote in a social media post.

In other news, Eminem appeared at a Gin & Juice event in London alongside Dr. Dre to perform ‘Houdini’ and ‘Forgot About Dre’.
