Listen to David Gilmour and daughter Romany’s whimsical new single ‘Between Two Points’

David Gilmour teamed up with his daughter Romany on their whimsical new single ‘Between Two Points’.

The song is a cover of The Montgolfier Brothers’ 1999 song, ‘Between Two Points’ which features 22-year-old Romany on vocals and harp. “And you can see it in the way thеy look at you / Feel it in the way they treat you / Always the last to know / Always the first to leave,” sing both David and Romany over the soloist and former Pink Floyd guitarist soft strumming and his daughter’s bright harp.

Speaking about the song in a press release, David said: “I’ve had that song on my playlist since it was released. More recently I mentioned it to one or two people: I assumed that it had been a hit, but no one knew it. I asked Romany to give it a go.”

Mark Tranmer of The Montgolfier Brothers added: “David and Romany’s version of our song is a great arrangement and production. Like all the best covers, it diverges from the original but keeps the spirit. Romany’s vocal phrasing of Roger Quigley’s words and the harp playing are both truly beautiful. David Gilmour’s distinctive guitar adds a whole new dimension. I still find it incredible that David and Polly chose to cover our song from all the songs out there.”

Directed by Gavin Elder, the accompanying black and white music video features Romany playing the harp, travelling on a train and close-ups of David’s epic guitar playing.

Speaking of the video, Elder said: “Romany performs this song with an extraordinary level of fragility, vulnerability and understated control. There’s a subtle, yet deep emotional rapport between David and Romany, captured with handheld cameras, enhancing the tension within the video.”

‘Between Two Points’ marks the second single from David’s forthcoming album ‘Luck And Strange‘ which is set for release on September 6. The LP marks the musician’s first solo album in nine years, following 2015’s ‘Rattle That Lock’. The single follows his previously released song ‘The Piper’s Call’. Romany also appears on the album’s bonus track, ‘Yes, I Have Ghosts’.
