The Fabulous Furore Grand Hotel

Whitney Spielfogel

The Amalfi Coast in Italy is one of the most sought-after destinations to visit. Boasting some of the best coastal towns in Italy, there are plenty of places to see and things to do along the Amalfi Coast – from hiking the Path of the Gods in Praiano to mozzarella making in Sorrento. The best time to visit the Amalfi Coast is from May to October when the weather is warm, the sunshine is abundant, and the rainfall is minimal. With that said, there’s no better time than now to spend the upcoming summer in southern Italy, winding through the various vineyards and villages, and taking in the stunning picture-perfect sights.

In a region steeped with history, and many storied hotels, the Amalfi Coast welcomed a new five-star property last month – the opening of the gorgeous Furore Grand Hotel, part of the Small Luxury Hotels, and one of the hottest hotel debuts this year. The property emerges as an ultra-luxurious cliffside hotel, nestled high up in the mountains in the small town of Furore (you’ll literally be floating on Cloud 9 – and this hotel is sure to put this sleepy town on the map!). The Furore Grand Hotel is equipped with heart stopping sea views, from high up in the sky to all the way across the Amalfi Coast, and has a contemporary design and aesthetic that simply wows. Perfectly positioned between the busy towns of Amalfi and Positano, the Furore Grand Hotel is a hidden gem, setting a new standard in the area and must be experienced in person to get a true feeling of this magical property, including the thoughtful attention to detail and bespoke hospitality. In a location nothing short of outstanding, this newcomer sets the bar very high, with its show-stopping accommodations, meticulously designed modern exterior and interiors, excellent service, exceptional food, and pinch-me panoramic views. A recent stay at this enchanting property was an experience that exceeded all expectations, offering the most perfect blend of luxury, serenity, and unparalleled warmth – truly “la dolce vita” on Italy’s lemon-scented southern shore.

The hotel’s sleek design seamlessly integrates with the natural landscape of the dramatic cliffs that characterize the Amalfi Coast, offering scenic views for as far as the sea and sky meet the eye. Our accommodation, a haven of comfort and sophistication, provided a sanctuary to unwind, relax and rejuvenate. The spacious rooms, adorned with elegant local Italian furnishings (think beautiful pastel tiles) and modern amenities, exuded a sense of utmost luxury. The private balconies afforded breathtaking vistas of the coastline, where we spent tranquil mornings savoring freshly brewed coffee as we watched the sunrise over the horizon. For a feeling of absolute exclusivity, book one of the Signature Pool Suites, which include furnished terraces leading outside onto private gardens with plunge pools overlooking the glistening Tyrrhenian Sea.

This impressive family-owned property is an ideal place to unwind and recharge, from not one, but two Instagram-worthy infinity pools with unobstructed views of the Amalfi Coast and the beautifully blue waters below. The infinity pools overlooking the sea provide a serene oasis to soak up the sun and unwind amidst the most magnificent backdrop. The main infinity pool looks like a Tik Toker’s dream come true, outfitted with all-white floating sunbeds, sleek umbrellas, and eye-pleasing clean lines. Guests can enjoy top-notch, personalized poolside service from the on-site restaurant Acquarasa, serving up innovative drinks, the most delectable (and delightfully curated) bites and snacks, and full meal menus, making a day spent at the hotel as comfortable and enjoyable (and photo-worthy!) as possible.

The property also boasts a state-of-the-art spa (open to all hotel guests) that offers a wide range of luxurious and innovative wellness services. The Petra Mare spa is equipped with the latest in wellness technology, as well as a sauna, steam room, infinity-edge hot tub (… but of course!) and a designated ice bath, designed to detoxify the body, improve circulation, and enhance relaxation, making it a haven for guests seeking relaxation and wellness on-site. The open-air fitness center is also a standout, ensuring that your workout doesn’t interfere with any time spent away from the astounding landscape.

One of the highlights of our stay was the culinary experience offered at the hotel’s main restaurant, Bluh Furore, offering a menu of the finest in Italian and Mediterranean cuisine, where breakfast and dinner are served daily. Led by talented chefs, the dining establishment showcased the finest flavors of the region, with each dish meticulously crafted to perfection. From succulent seafood caught fresh from the waters to mouthwatering pasta dishes (the passion fruit sea urchin linguine was unlike anything I’ve ever tasted!) bursting with local ingredients, every meal was a culinary delight that tantalized the senses. The kitchen is helmed by renowned chefs who bring creativity and expertise to each dish (including the most stunning sliced apples prepared for my 6-year-old daughter daily). Their culinary artistry is evident in their thoughtful and unique presentation. The restaurant boasts panoramic views of the Amalfi Coast, providing a breathtaking backdrop for any meal. Whether dining indoors or on the terrace, guests can enjoy spectacular scenery and the most mouth-watering meal. In addition to its regular dining menu, the restaurant offers unique gastronomic experiences such as cooking classes, wine tastings, and chef’s table dinners. These experiences allow guests to engage more deeply with the culinary offerings and talented team, where the attentive and professional staff provide impeccable service, ensuring that each guest’s dining experience is beyond memorable and a feast for the senses.

It was hard to peel ourselves away from this one-of-a-kind property, but when we finally did, no ask was too big or small for the hotel’s concierge and front desk team to arrange. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles and genuine hospitality, setting the tone for an unforgettable stay and time spent at The Furore Grand Hotel. The hotel’s attentive staff went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of our trip was nothing short of extraordinary. Whether it was organizing personalized excursions along the coast or providing recommendations for exploring the charming villages nearby, their dedication to guest satisfaction was evident in every interaction. Another perk included the property’s daily complimentary shuttle that takes you to directly to the private beach, Amalfi and Positano at scheduled times, making a trip into town effortless. Furthermore, for a brand new hotel, the concierge team already has a stronghold securing hard-to-get reservations and top tables in the region. The team’s connections allow guests to experience exclusive dining, events, and activities that are often out of reach. This commitment to providing personalized service enhances the luxury experience for all guests, ensuring an unforgettable visit, embodying the high standards and attention to detail that the hotel will be known for.

Some of the most memorable meals outside of the hotel included dinner at the dreamy and famed La Sponda at Le Sireneuse in Positano, serving incredible old school Italian dishes alongside a handsome quartet that sang the most tender, touching tunes. Il Pirata, in the nearby seaside picturesque town of Praiano, was another standout. The restaurant is renowned for its ideal location situated right by the sea, providing diners with panoramic views of the coastline and the crystal-clear waters below. The setting is especially magical at sunset. The ambiance is both elegant and relaxed, making it perfect for a romantic dinner, a family gathering, or a special occasion.

The Furore Grand Hotel is currently one of the best-kept secrets of the Amalfi Coast; a luxurious five-star design hotel that blends subtly into the sheer cliffs and offers unparalleled views of sea, mountains, and the pure azure sky, all at the same time. The whiter than white décor of the 35 exquisite rooms enhances the vast blue surroundings and its perfect cliff-face positioning makes The Furore Grand Hotel a serene oasis, the newest grand dame, and most of all, a must-visit Italian property. Simply put, the hotel is a gem; a very special hideaway in a part of the world that we know well, yet it still impresses every time we visit.

In conclusion, my experience at the Furore Grand Hotel was nothing short of magical. From the stunning setting to the impeccable service and luxurious accommodations to the modern and effortlessly stylish décor, every moment spent at this idyllic retreat was a testament to the beauty and charm of the Amalfi Coast. It’s a destination that beckons travelers seeking an escape from the ordinary – a place where dreams are realized, and memories are made to last a lifetime.
