AMC has announced Dark Winds Season 3, as the acclaimed crime drama series has been renewed by the network.

When is Dark Winds Season 3 expected to premiere?

Deadline reported on the renewal, noting that it comes only a couple of weeks after Dark Winds Season 2 finished its run. The outlet also states that it is currently planned to premiere in early 2025, likely as a result of the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

“We started this journey with very high hopes for this series, given the remarkable source material and extraordinary creative team behind it, and it has delivered on every level,” said Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks. “From the beloved novels, to an incredibly collaborative producing team that includes Robert Redford, George R. R. Martin, showrunner John Wirth and star Zahn McClarnon, to the entire cast and crew, there is so much storytelling yet to come in this universe. Thanks to the fans for embracing this series and the critics for celebrating and shining a light on it.”

“Lt. Joe Leaphorn, reunites with Jim Chee, his former deputy turned private eye, when their separate cases bring them together in pursuit of the same suspect.” reads the season 2 synopsis. “They find themselves in the high desert of Navajo Country chasing a killer who’s turned his sights on them to protect a secret that rips open old wounds and challenges Leaphorn’s moral and professional code.”

Dark Winds stars Zahn McClarnon as Joe Leaphorn, Kiowa Gordon as Jim Chee, Jessica Matten as Sgt. Manuelito, Deanna Allison as Emma Leaphorn, Elva Guerra as Sally Growing Thunder, A Martinez as Sheriff Gordo Sena, Joseph Runningfox as Henry Leaphorn, Jeri Ryan as Rosemary Vines, and Nicholas Logan as Colton Wolf.

Dark Winds is created and executive produced by Graham Roland. McClarnon executive produces along with George R.R. Martin, Robert Redford, Anne Hillerman, Chris Eyre, Vince Gerardis, and Tina Elmo.
