Here are the finalists for the 2023 Dylan Thomas Prize.

The shortlist for the £20,000 Swansea University Dylan Thomas Prize, one of the most prestigious awards in the biz, was announced this morning and includes four debuts.

The prize, named in honor of the iconic Welsh poet who died in 1953 at the age of 39, is unique in that it is open to all published authors under 40 working in any of the broad range of literary forms in which Thomas excelled. This includes poetry, prose, fictional drama, short story collections, novels, novellas, stage plays, and even screenplays.

Previous winners include Claire Vaye Watkins (2013), Max Porter (2016), Raven Leilani (2021), and Patricia Lockwood (2022).

Limberlost by Robbie Arnott (Atlantic)
Seven Steeples by Sara Baume (Tramp Press)
God’s Children Are Little Broken Things by Arinze Ifeakandu (Orion)
I’m a Fan by Sheena Patel (Rough Trade)
Send Nudes by Saba Sams (Bloomsbury)
Bless the Daughter Raised by a Voice in Her Head by Warsan Shire (Chatto & Windus)

The winner of the prize will be announced on May 11th, prior to International Dylan Thomas day on May 14th.
