It’s time for one more go-round with Johnny, Daniel, and the rest of the crew. Publisher GameMill Entertainment announced Cobra Kai 2: Dojos Rising and confirmed that it would be releasing this fall on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC for $49.99. A sequel to 2020’s Cobra Kai: The Karate Kid Saga Continues, this game sees developer Flux Game Studio return for a continued adaption of the hit Netflix series that deeply expands the playable roster of karate kids and their senseis.

Fans can choose between the Eagle Fang, Cobra Kai, or Miyagi-Do dojos and build their fighter from the ground up by collecting chi and coins. Recruiting new members to the team will strengthen the dojo, a vital task on the road to becoming the Grand Champion of the All Valley Tournament. Dojos Rising features 28 different characters from the show, each with unique special moves and abilities. And even though it will have online play, users can relive certain scenes from the show or play through its story mode, too.

As was announced in May, Season 5 of Cobra Kai is debuting earlier than expected on September 9, giving a likely window for when in the fall Dojos Rising will release as fall begins a few weeks later on September 22. The surprisingly long-running series picks up the story of the classic ’80s flick The Karate Kid in the modern day before evolving into a teen action drama thanks to a new generation of martial artists.

Today’s announcement doesn’t go as far as to share what type of game Cobra Kai 2 will be, but the easy assumption is that it will pick up exactly where the original game left off. The 2020 release was a side-scrolling 2D beat ’em up with visual flair straight out of the 1980s and was almost unanimously panned. Hopefully, the developers can replicate that in this new game, but we’ll have to wait for some screenshots or a teaser trailer to be sure.
