Apex Legends is finally stepping up to current consoles by releasing natively on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. The popular battle royale game has survived on updates from the previous generation’s half-step consoles and now offers a serious graphical boost to owners of the latest gaming hardware. If that wasn’t enough, Apex fans have brand new cosmetics to secure in the Warriors Collection Event.

Starting today, Apex players can download a new update that will give the 2019 game the features players expect from new AAA releases. This includes 4K output at 60 frames per second, HDR where supported, and a larger draw distance to let players see farther onto the huge battlegrounds of the Apex Games. Xbox Series S players will get 60 frames per second at a reduced 1080p, while everyone else will get the full upgrade.
The Warriors Collection Event will bring next-gen versions of Apex Legends to PS5 and XSX!

Developer Respawn Entertainment put out instructions to get PlayStation 5 owners on the newest version of the game, highlighting that console’s sometimes-confusing UI when it comes to games with multiple releases across generations. Xbox owners will simply download the update and go thanks to their much-touted Smart Delivery technology, although that does prevent players from sampling the downscaled version of Apex Legends if they’re morbidly curious.

Once they marvel at the graphical upgrades, Apex Legends players can get to work on securing new skins as part of the Warriors Collection Event. The most dedicated (read: flush with cash) players can secure Crypto’s Heirloom weapon while everyone else can enjoy the return of the popular Control game mode and several new maps in Arenas.
