In a post made on Instagram, Ian Joyce — the Visual Development Supervisor at Marvel Studios — shared some early concept art for what The Lizard might look like in No Way Home. The version that we got in the film remained more true to its original film, but during early exploration for the character, it seems as if Marvel almost went back to the comic book version of the character.

Check out the concept art below:

As is evident from the concept art, the early rounds of concept nearly had Lizard going back to his comic book days, complete with purple pants, white lab coat, and a much more lizard-like body than anything we’ve seen in the films so far. However, a change was obviously made to keep him more in line with his The Amazing Spider-Man look, however.

Spider-Man: No Way Home saw the return of Tom Holland as the beloved titular wall-crawler, along with Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange. It was directed by Jon Watts from a screenplay written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.

It also starred Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau, Tony Revolori, and Hannibal Buress (Tag) along with Sony’s Spider-Man Universe alums Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, J.K. Simmons, Alfred Molina, Willem Dafoe, Jamie Foxx, Thomas Haden Church, and Rhys Ifans.

The film currently holds a worldwide gross of over $1.8 billion at the box office.
