Psych 3: This Is Gus Begins Production This Summer at Peacock

A new movie from the popular comedy series Psych has been ordered by the NBCU streaming platform Peacock. The third movie is officially named Psych 3: This Is Gus.

The announcement for the upcoming movie was revealed with a short video that pulled tweets from eager fans as the series theme song played in the background. It ended with a simple title card that said the film will be “coming soon.” Psych 3: This Is Gus is set to begin production in Vancouver this summer.

The third Psych movie begins as Gus (Dulé Hull) and Selene (Jazmyn Simon) prepare for their shotgun wedding. However, before the festivities, Gus and Shawn (James Roday Rodriguez) go on a quest to find Selene’s estranged husband. Timothy Omundson and Maggie Lawson are set to reprise their roles as Carlton Lassiter and Juliet O’Hara respectively.

Since Psych finished airing on USA Network in 2014, movies were released to continue the adventures of Shawn and Gus. The first film, simply titled Psych: The Movie, aired on USA on December 7, 2017. The sequel, Psych 2: Lassie Come Home, released on Peacock on July 15, 2020.

Psych 3: This Is Gus will be produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, in association with Thruline Entertainment. In the director’s chair is Psych series creator Steve Franks, who will also serve as executive producer. Chris Henze will executive produce for Thruline. Additionally, James Roday Rodriquez and Dulé Hull will executive produce. Co-writing the upcoming movie will be Franks and Rodriguez.
