The Princess: 20th Century Studios & Hulu Nabs Joey King-Led Spec

According to Deadline, 20th Century Studios has successfully acquired Ben Lustig and Jake Thornton’s spec script titled The Princess which will be made for streaming on Hulu. Further details about the project’s plot and characters are still being kept under wraps with Golden Globe and Emmy-nominated actress Joey King attached for the leading role. Should the project pushes through, this would mark King’s latest collaboration with the streamer after working on the critically-acclaimed limited series The Act.

The Princess is being described as Rapunzel meets The Raid which might mean that the film will be in the action and coming-of-age genres. The film will be produced by John Wick creator Derek Kolstad along with Original Film’s Neal H. Moritz and Toby Jaffe. On top of starring, King has also signed on to executive produce with writers Lustig and Thornton set to produce.

King’s notable film credits include: Crazy Stupid Love, The Dark Knight Rises, The Conjuring, White House Down, The Kissing Booth films, and Slender Man. She has also been recently added to the star-studded cast of Brad Pitt’s Bullet Train and is also attached to star in the Margot Robbie-produced The Wildest Animals in Griffith Park starring opposite fellow Golden Globe nominee Kaitlyn Dever.
