Review: The PondHawks “Invisible Stranger”
Music

Chicago’s leading indie band, The PondHawks, have recently released one of this summer’ anthems, “Invisible Stranger”, a song bringing inspiration and hope to people whose lives continue to be shattered by COVID 19. During a time when many musicians have had to become even more creative than they were before it seems relevant and fitting that “Invisible Stranger” is creating a buzz among the fans.

With a big social media fan base, The PondHawks have been steadily growing since 2007 when the band formed. They are recognized for their synth rhythms and extraordinary melodies as well as their catchy lyrics, and message motivated tracks. “Invisible Stranger” is an uplifting warning with edgy vocals and climactic harmonies with colorful instrumentals.

The PondHawks are influenced by The Beatles, Wings and ELO which their sound is often reminiscent of. Their hometown is River Grove which is a suburb of Chicago, and the main songwriting partners Mario Novelli and Jorie Gracen are a perfect musical match. Since the beginning they have managed to capture a worldwide audience and are considered pioneers in what some call retro rock, a genre all it’s own.

Aside from “Invisible Stranger” check out prior songs by the group including “River Grove”, “Midnight Howl”, and “Afraid of Love.” There songs can be found on most digital platforms, and their videos on YouTube.
