Frankie Knuckles, The Godfather of House Music, just dropped a feel-good, carefree posthumous release all about self-empowerment.
“Carefree (I Am A Star)” radiates positive energy and charisma, as one of dance music’s most beloved pioneers celebrates Chicago house to its fullest, years after his passing. Smooth and infectious, it’s impossible to not get down to this groove, which is all about doing you — that means never being afraid to love yourself or believe yourself.
The “Carefree” track signals the forthcoming Jackmaster 7 compilation. Frankie released versions one through six between 1987 and 1991 — and nearly three decades later, we’re ready for another round.
