We’re still a ways away from the debut of Ali in the MCU as Blade in his own solo project, though Feige previously teased following last year’s Comic-Con announcement that he could make his first appearance in the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which recently landed Sam Raimi (Spider-Man Trilogy) to helm. The two-time Oscar winner was previously utilized in the MCU on the first season of Netflix’s Luke Cage, though with the ties between the streaming service’s universe and the film world being minimal and having come to an end with the cancellation of all six series, it’s left to be seen if this connection will carry over on to the big screen.

Wesley Snipes played the martial artist Daywalker three times, in 1998’s Blade (the first successful Marvel Comics film), 2002’s Blade II and 2004’s Blade Trinity. He was replaced by rapper Sticky Fingaz for Spike’s Blade TV series, which only lasted one season in 2006.

The Blade Trilogy from New Line Cinema helped shepherd comic books and superheroes to the big screen. Combined, the three films brought in over $400 million at the global box office. Blade was created by writer Marv Wolfman and artist Gene Colan as a supporting character in the comic book “The Tomb of Dracula” #10 in July of 1973.
