The Bachelor‘s Arie Has Platinum Blonde Hair

Fashion

You know what they say: new year, new ’do! And celebs are taking that super seriously. We’re mere months into 2020 and already several of our faves have chopped or dyed their hair. From celebrities like Miley Cyrus embracing the mullet to Kristen Stewart’s enduring commitment to the genderless haircut trend (but blonder!), stars are ready to let their hair do the talking in 2020—and we’re ready to listen.

It’s a whole new world when it comes to celeb locks, but this 2019 rule remains: You should 100% get bangs.

Keke Palmer

(Photo: Twitter/KekePalmer)

OK, this is just getting out of hand (in the absolute best way). Keke Palmer is the latest celeb to dye her hair orange, following in the footsteps of Kristen Stewart and Dua Lipa. On April 29, the actor took to social media, posting a series of photos on Twitter and a video of herself dancing on Instagram, with her bright new colour on full display. Palmer captioned the video with three orange heart emojis. ICYMI in the OG photo, Palmer’s new colour is actually an orange ombré look, and TBH it looks freakin’ amazing on her.

Sarah Michelle Gellar

Yet another celeb jumping on the funky hair colour train, Sarah Michelle Gellar just debuted rose-coloured locks. The actor and mom of two took to Instagram on April 28 to show off her new ’do—and reveal the intent behind it: embarrassing her kids. “Well, because we’re still in quarantine, I had to think of a new and creative way to embarrass my children. Quarancolour!,” Gellar said in the video.

TBH, there’s nothing embarrassing about how cute this colour is!

Kristen Stewart

Is orange going to be the hottest hair colour of the summer? It sure looks like it—at least if Dua Lipa and Kristen Stewart’s new looks are anything to go off of. Stewart is yet *another* celeb who has decided to go wild when it comes to hair colour during quarantine, dyeing her short locks bright orange (or “cosmic rust,” as her colourist CJ Romero calls it). Romero took to Instagram on March 30 to debut Stewart’s new colour (and show us the process), posting a carousel of photos, including one of Stewart posing in front of an orange pool table with her matching dye job.

Her #TBT colour is just starting to make the rounds on social media now. “Orange” you glad we’re finally seeing it?

Dua Lipa

Yet another celeb is using quarantine to make a hair switch-up! Dua Lipa took the plunge on April 25, dyeing her short hair a light orange colour, which the singer playfully dubbed “orangina quarantina” in an Instagram post. Colour isn’t anything new for Lipa—since physical distancing started, she’s died her hair a myriad of colours (including pink!) while in isolation, all with the help of her BF, Anwar Hadid.

On April 16, Lipa shared a series of photos to her Instagram that showed Hadid helping his GF dye her hair. We love a helpful beau!

Bella Hadid

It was only a matter of time before people started giving themselves quarantine bangs, but leave it to Bella Hadid to give herself bangs that actually look good. On April 20, the model took to Instagram stories to show off her new cut, chic little curtain bangs. “I cut my bangs,” Hadid wrote on the story, before polling followers about whether or not they’d let her near their own hair with a pair of scissors. And after seeing the result of Hadid’s handiwork, I’d say 100% yes.

Armie Hammer

Quarantine is getting to the best of us, and that includes celebrities. On April 15, actor Armie Hammer shared a photo of himself with fans on Instagram, and he looks *a little* different than normal. In the photo, Hammer debuts a new (very tall and very curly) mohawk and handlebar moustache, the former of which was cut by himself. “Killing the game,” he captioned the photo.

And it is…a lot. Fingers crossed this ‘hawk was just a resting point on the road towards a fully buzzed head!

Hilary Duff

We’re now *deep* into quarantine, so it should come as no surprise that people are starting to turn to at-home dye jobs to cure their roots and their boredom—and that applies to celebs, too. Hilary Duff is the latest celeb to give dyeing her hair the old at-home try, debuting a new aquamarine-blue colour on Instagram on April 12. “Yea,” Duff captioned the post, alongside a shrugging meme.

In an Instagram Live the same evening, Duff’s hubby—musician Matthew Koma—revealed that he’s the one behind the dye job.

TBH, we think it looks great. And what better time to try a risky new colour than when legit no one will see you?

Ariana Grande

If there was ever a time to step away from your curling iron and straightener and give your hair a break, it would be now, while everyone is physical distancing. And it seems like Ariana Grande is taking advantage of the time at home. On March 30, the singer shared a rare glimpse of her natural curls on Instagram. Known for her high ponytails and exaggerated hair extensions, Grande has been spending the last few years trying to repair her locks after years of dyeing it left it severely damaged. “My actual hair is so broken that it looks absolutely absurd when I let it down,” Grande said in a 2014 Instagram post about her signature hairstyle. “As annoying as it is for y’all to look at the same hairstyle all the time, it’s all that works for now (and I’m comfortable for the first time in years).”

We love the curls, Ari!

Jonathan Van Ness

We probably all felt the urge to do a little DIY hair makeover on the weekend, but Jonathan Van Ness actually caved. The Queer Eye star shaved off his whole moustache and beard, and he documented everything. The ‘stache and sides of the beard came off first, leaving him with a weird semi-goatee situation. He posted a pic saying, “This is officer Van Ness. Don’t try new lewks during quarentine [sic] (I’m shaving this chin thing off now just was aghast at how I look).”

OFC he wasn’t going to leave his face in that state (he’s *literally* a hairdresser), and a pic of his smooth baby face popped on his IG Stories a little bit later.

Jonathan Van Ness smiles and shows off his freshly shaven face. The word 'FACE' in all caps appears next to his...well, face.

Jennifer Lopez

Yet another celeb has hopped on the chunky highlights train! (And no it’s not 2001 again, it just looks like it.) Potentially taking a cue from Ivanka Trump (or an early 2000s Kelly Clarkson), Lopez debuted some major highlights on March 11. Posting a photo to Instagram, Lopez’s usually honey brown hair was accented with *thick* caramel stripes. Not sure if we fully endorse, but we’re totally supportive of trying out something new!

Vanessa Hudgens

Ready for her close up! Fresh off a break up with longtime love Austin Butler, actor Vanessa Hudgens lightened her locks for spring, showing off a warm chestnut brown colour in a March 10 post to Instagram.

Selena Gomez

The hit show Friends *is* having a moment, so it only makes sense that celebs would be channeling the famous character’s haircuts. Appearing on a March episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Selena Gomez debuted what some are calling the 2020 version of “The Rachel,” a layered, voluminous chop with the ends turned deliberately in. And we have to say, like the iconic haircut made famous by Jennifer Aniston’s Rachel Green, we love this new ’do.

Kate Middleton

What better way to kick off spring than with a fresh new cut—just ask The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton. While on a royal tour of Ireland, HRH debuted new ’70s inspired bangs, and we are totally here for it! The new curtain fringe, which perfectly frames her face, is super cute and not to mention super stylish. Get it, HRH!

Kylie Jenner

Kylie is the kween of changing up her hair; whether it’s a wig, a new cut or a fresh new colour, the makeup mogul loves to switch it up when it comes to her locks—and this might be our favourite hair change yet! On February 28, Jenner debuted a new caramel blonde colour—and we’re calling it, this’ll be the hair colour of 2020. The entrepreneur and mama to Stormi is currently on vacation and showing off her new colour all over the ’gram; and honestly, we can’t blame her. The colour is *that* good.

Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber’s upper lip is finally free! The Biebs posted a shot of his freshly shaven mug, nary a moustache hair in sight, captioned: “I shaved. MUSTASHIO went on holiday, but he will be back in due time.” Wife Hailey Bieber commented “yeeeeee,” followed by a heart-eye emoji. Even Bieber’s mama Pattie Mallette was into it, commenting, “Ya praise God.” The Justache won’t be gone long judging by the pic’s caption, so enjoy it while it lasts, ladies.

Lady Gaga

We love a big hair change—especially when said hair happens to *not* be on your head. Lady Gaga debuted a fresh eyebrow look on February 13 when she posted a selfie rocking bleached brows. “Sushi!!!!!,” the singer captioned the photo of herself on Instagram. The A Star is Born actor is far from the first celeb to rock the “no eyebrow” trend (RiRi infamously donned subdued brows on the September 2018 cover of Vogue UK), but we honestly love this look on Gaga!

Kim Kardashian West

Never one to stick to a singular beauty look for long, Kim Kardashian West did a complete 180 degree switch-up from her normally dark hair, revealing a warm honey blonde in her Instagram stories on February 11. The jury’s still out on whether or not this is a wig (as Cosmopolitan points out, the Kardashian-Jenner fam *loves* their wigs), but either way, we love this warm hue for spring!

Selena Gomez

In the middle of promo for her latest album Rare, singer Selena Gomez took a few moments on February 10 to show off her newest cut and colour on the ‘gram. With her curly lob and honey highlights, Gomez’s latest hair look is giving us some serious Jennifer Lopez vibes. We love it!

Jane Fonda

Also using the Oscars to debut a fresh, new ‘do was actor and activist Jane Fonda. Taking the stage to present the final award of the night—Best Picture, which went to Parasite—Fonda shocked the crowd with her fab icy blonde colour and and shorter cut. According to her colourist Jack Martin, who also posted an Insta photo, the process took seven hours.

Saoirse Ronan

Well, it appears that Little Women star Saoirse Ronan has answered the age old question: “Should I get bangs?” The answer, my friends, is a resounding yes. The actor debuted her new fringe on the Oscars red carpet. She may not have taken home the Best Actress trophy, but she definitely wins a beauty award from us.

Olivia Colman

There’s no better time to make a new hair debut than on the red carpet for the biggest night in Hollywood. The Crown’s Olivia Colman walked the Oscars red carpet on February 9 with voluminous sleeves, a bit of bling and a new blonde ’do! The switch up is a refreshing change for the usually brunette actor and she pulls it off like a true *cough* queen *cough.*

Barbie Ferreira

It looks like 2020 is set to be the year of the celeb mullet! Only days after singer Miley Cyrus debuted her much shorter 10-90, Euphoria actor Barbie Ferreira followed suit. Ferreira, already no stranger to a chic bob, debuted her shortest and edgiest look yet on her Instagram stories. In the post, Ferreira also gave a shout-out to her hairdresser, Laurie Heaps, for the cool, choppy mullet. We’re absolutely ~euphoric~ over this hair change. And TBH, it might even be better than Miley’s?!

Timothée Chalamet

He (along with Charlize Theron) made the bowl cut chic in 2019, and now it seems like Timmy is trying to make the 15th century moustache a thing. Since the start of the New Year, the Little Women actor has been spotted walking around New York and attending galas with a very special +1: his new moustache/goatee combo. Photographed at the National Board of Review Gala on January 8, Chalamet’s newest facial addition was on full display, and does anyone else get some serious Renaissance painting vibes from his new look? TBH, I don’t hate it. Winter is offish here, and we wouldn’t want our beloved Timmy’s precious face to freeze.

Honestly, this ‘stache was a missed opportunity for Little Women.

Kristen Stewart

Stepping out for the premiere of her new film Underwater, Kristen Stewart’s typically edgy locks were even more punk-looking than usual thanks to a trim by stylist Adir Abergel and a little more bleach. We are here for her blonder ’do! Stewart is no stranger to the genderless haircut, and we have a feeling we’ll be seeing a lot more KStew-inspired cuts popping up on some of our fave celebs.

Miley Cyrus

On January 6, the singer took to Instagram to show off much shorter locks in a series of three Instagram posts sharing the hairstyle change while teasing forthcoming new music. “New Hair. New Year. NEW MUSIC!,” the “Mother’s Daughter” singer captioned the posts. The shaggy cut is a shorter-version of the very popular (but controversial) mullet Cyrus debuted in November 2019, and if the number of posts gracing Cyrus’s feed are anything to go off of, she’s defs feeling her new look.

Not only is Cyrus’s new hairdo a nod to her dad’s famous mullet, it also reminds us (and a ton of fans in the comments) of another badass female rockstar, singer Joan Jett. Musician @thisiswatt commented “Cherry Bomb” on one of the posts, referencing the title of one of Jett’s most famous songs. Model @willam had a similar idea, commenting “Runaways vibes. Happy 2020!” on the same post (a reference to Jett’s 1970s-era band, The Runaways).

Does this new look mean we can expect a more of a rocker vibe from Cyrus’s 2020 music?
