After the company announced that a closed beta would come next month, it saw its registration page crash almost immediately. In a new tweet, Blizzard confirmed the date, with registration still ongoing for the beta if you’d like to sign up to be selected. This news comes following a closed alpha that took place earlier this year, which saw Overwatch League players, Blizzard employees, and others get the chance to get a hands-on look at the game.

According to the FAQ found on Overwatch‘s website, beta testers will be chosen based on a variety of factors, including their Battle.net region, when they signed up, and computer hardware specifics. In order to access the first closed beta, players will be required to own a copy of the first Overwatch on PC.

Acting as a standalone sequel to the original game, Overwatch 2 aims to maintain a shared multiplayer environment between both games but will see major changes for fans of the series. These include new maps, massive tweaks to heroes, and other reworks that will also be worked into the original Overwatch whenever the sequel releases.
