Speaking during the recent Valencia International Film Festival (via El Espanol) – also known as Cinema Jove – director Lynne Ramsay received the Luna de Valencia Award and spoke about her upcoming film Polaris, where she revealed that both Phoenix and Mara had been attached to the project.

When it came to Phoenix, Ramsay noted that he was the “best actor” that she’d ever met, and had a reason for everything he did.

“He’s crazy, but he’s the best actor I’ve ever met. Everything he does on the set has a reason,” Ramsay said. “It’s much more difficult when you come up with an original idea like this, but it’s impossible not to get excited when you’re preparing a movie with Joaquin.”

This is far from the first film that both Phoenix and Mara have appeared together in, as the couple has also acted opposite each other in Her, Mary Magdalene, and Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot. Phoenix’s schedule is looking incredibly busy, as he’s currently working with director Ari Aster on Disappointment Blvd. and Ridley Scott on Kitbag. As for Mara, she’s in the process of shooting Women Talking with Sarah Polley.
