Masters of the Air: Austin Butler & Callum Turner Join Band of Brothers Sequel

Apple Studios’ Band of Brothers sequel event series Masters of the Air has added Austin Butler (Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood, The Dead Don’t Die) and Callum Turner (Emma., The Capture) to its cast, according to Deadline. Butler will star as Major Gale Cleven with Turner portraying Major John Egan.

Masters of the Air is a follow-up to HBO’s Emmy-winning World War II miniseries Band of Brothers and The Pacific. Based on the book by Donald L. Miller, the new miniseries follows the true, deeply personal story of the American bomber boys in World War II who brought the war to Hitler’s doorstep.

The series is written by John Orloff (Band of Brothers) and Emmy and Golden Globe-winning Graham Yost. Both will co-executive produce the project, which is produced by Apple Studios along with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television and Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman’s Playtone.

Executive producers include Spielberg, Hanks, and Goetzman. Co-executive producers also include Amblin Television’s Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey and Playtone’s Steven Shareshian. Alex Maggioni will oversee for Amblin alongside Spielberg, Frank, and Falvey.

Band of Brothers aired in 2001 and was nominated for 20 Primetime Emmy Awards, winning seven including Outstanding Miniseries, while also winning the Golden Globe for Best Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television. The Pacific aired in 2010 and was nominated for 24 Primetime Emmy Awards and winning eight including Outstanding Miniseries.
